Q: What does ASC mean?
A: Autistic Spectrum Condition.
A more modern, neutral term for autism is used by many professionals and families.

Q: What does ADHD mean?
A: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
A condition affecting concentration, impulse control and activity levels, often requiring tailored support in school.

Q: What does ADD mean?
A: Attention Deficit Disorder.
A form of ADHD without hyperactivity, where difficulties mainly involve attention and focus.

Q: What does PDA mean?
A: Pathological Demand Avoidance.
A profile within the autism spectrum characterised by high anxiety and extreme avoidance of everyday demands.

Q: What does SLCN mean?
A: Speech, Language and Communication Needs.
Difficulties understanding or using language, interacting socially, or communicating effectively.

Q: What does SEMH mean?
A: Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
Difficulties with emotional regulation, anxiety, behaviour or wellbeing that impact learning.

A: Severe Learning Difficulties.
Significant cognitive needs requiring highly personalised teaching and support.

Q: What does PMLD mean?
A: Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties.
Complex needs involving very high levels of support for learning, communication, mobility and health.

A: Specific Learning Difficulty.
A difficulty affecting particular areas such as reading, writing, spelling or maths, while other abilities remain unaffected.

Q: What does Dyscalculia mean?
