Why We Do What We Do
Ask people what they first think of when talking about a solicitor and most say the stereotypical 'fat cat lawyer' or 'ambulance-chaser' portrayed in the media.
Whilst we admit that this perception may be true in a few cases, we are genuinely committed to doing the work that we do; challenging what we see as injustices to children with SEN or Disability.
We believe that injustices cannot go unchallenged. Our overall aim is to develop the law by bringing important (and sometimes unprecedented) cases, which will help improve the rights of those that often include the most vulnerable members of our society.
We consider that the law has an important role to play in helping to educate society generally. As one Disabled person once put it: “we must widen our minds as well as our doorways.”
As a small and niche specialist practice with no other agenda we will only provide assistance and representation to clients where we believe that we can provide real and added value. In fact, we will refer clients onto other organisations where we believe that they will also be able to provide the necessary advice or assistance without clients having to incur unnecessary legal fees.
We also believe that solicitors' practices now need to move with the times and adapt to the changing way that clients want to conduct their cases. We therefore use cutting-edge IT in our practice, such as case management systems and mobile technology, to ensure that our clients and cases are dealt with as quickly and efficiently as possible.
We can communicate with our clients and other parties entirely through the use of e-mail and electronic media where required. For example, all our correspondence and documents are also stored digitally and are instantly retrievable. Our IT systems are fully secure and backed up.
SEN and Disability affect every part of society and know no class, race, religion, age etc. Our aim is to always ensure that:
- All children with SEN or Disability receive the right educational provision;
- All children with SEN or Disability (and their families) are treated fairly by every part of society; and
- All ‘Davids’ receive the same level of legal representation as ‘Goliaths’.
In terms of Special Educational Provision we hold no professional or personal beliefs and represent parents whether they are seeking Mainstream Inclusion or Special Schooling for their Children. We believe that it is parents who are usually the ones who know what is right for their child.
