Survey 2009

  • Informed parents are more likely to get good results, and your site is the best for informing parents.  More guidance is needed for when the SEN CoP isn't followed as I found the Welsh LGO unsympathetic and lacking in understanding of the importance of statement amendment for school transfer and we were told some issues were tribunal issue at a point when we had no right of appeal to tribunal.   We  had the amended statement  on 1st Oct, not February 15th and are currently being threatened with permanent exclusion even though the school is not following the risk assessment or statement fully.  I know the theory, but it hasn't prevented the problem escalating.
  • For me the updates in changes in SEN law are very useful.  My son has ASD and is at the beginning of his education (Yr 2).  I have already come across obstructive attitudes amongst senior teaching staff, and feel that I need to be equipped with legal information to be able to protect my son in the future.
  • It is excellent because it is free!
  • Really impressed at how the site explains concepts and gives information. The language and overall tone are perfect.
  • It helps me keep up to date, its good
  • It is very informative about SEN Law and is an extremely useful resource in guiding parents like myself who have to navigate through the minefield of SEN Statements, SEN Law, Tribunals, ignorant and obstinate Local Authorities, etc.
  • current news daily
  • I would always recommend Douglas Silas
  • Extremely useful and simple to access. I pass it on to all my clients for information purposes whenever they express any difficulties within the education system. It proved invaluable to me personally and I know it is to others. Thanks
  • Douglas Silas is simply the best SEN solicitor operating in the UK today.  His website is more than just a business window or a source of information - it has become a National Resource for SEN parents.  His passion and commitment to helping SEN children is breathtaking.
  • Extremely useful and informative (and I give this opinion as somebody - one of few? - who fell out with Douglas and conducted, successfully, our own case to get a child into the appropriate Special School)
  • It contains some useful info which might seem basic to some, but is extremely useful for a parent who Daughter is starting the journey of disability, and where the county council are guarded and unhelpful when they learn that your child is not in the state system.
  • Thank you for the time and effort that goes into this service.
  • It's very easy to find the information you want
  • Good for information should I be asked questions by a client who has a child with special needs
  • A great resource. I have recommended it to many colleagues, including school governors.
  • You're brilliantly informative! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
  • It's well worth a visit!
  • An informative, honest, easy to use SEN website.
  • WORTH LOOKING AT!
  • Excellent website
  • I'm never fully clear about your charges, and how much advice you are willing to give 'free' and, of course, being bound by impartiality I cannot recommend one site or solicitor above another.
  • its about douglas, and there is no better!
  • The information guides I downloaded gave me enough information to take on the Education Dept regarding my son' Statement & get the number of hours supplied to him to be doubled taking him to full-time support this was without the need to appeal or take the matter further,it empowered me with the knowledge & confidence to be able to challenge the Education dept & Win! Thank you
  • Simple to access.
  • It would be helpful to include some information about higher education, the facts about dyspraxia affecting girls as often as boys, and that these conditions don't evaporate when one hits 18. There is a large and very uninformed world out there...
  • It is very informatative and clearly provides information which I have not found so readily available elsewhere.
  • You website is a very true presentation of the people who work at Douglas Silas Solicitors - they are informative and very efficient
  • It is a strong part of the reason we appointed Douglas for our case
  • Open and helpful information to enable people to decide if your service is right for them; this is very refreshing from a solicitor. You keep all in education well informed. Keep doing what you are doing.
  • Information is power!
  • User-friendly and friendly
  • Reassuring service when we find ourselves in a situation that is such a worry.
  • Contains very useful information on legal rights and case material to consider in Statement Reviews.
  • When I needed help and advice your website was the only link I had in the minefield of Special Educational Needs.  As a parent it is often frustrating and difficult to deal with Special Educational issues as many Local Authorities simply do not inform people and many parents and carers are often working blind.  Thank you.
  • It has given direction and help to those whom seek it; including imparting knowledge.
  • It's useful
  • You must visit it
  • how factual and informative it is
  • very detailed website
  • Go here for honest, professional, direct and informed advice.
  • The information is correct
  • To you, thanks for all the free stuff. To others - Stop Press: Solicitor giving advice for free!
  • Its the most accessible site I use.
  • Helpful information and advice!
  • very informative.
  • I think the robotic nature of the voice is a bit off putting - is this because you regularly change the text?  Or is it felt to be more friendly for people used to text readers?
  • very useful resource
  • How generous you are with all the information you collate and share. As a parent with a SEN/disabled child I don’t have so much time to find all that I need to know so your website really helps. Thank you so much
  • more detail on SEN than most
  • Clear factual legal information in accessible language
  • HELPFUL ONE STOP SHOP
  • non bias - do not favour either the parents or the educationalists - present both views.  As parents we can become so focused and intense upon our child's needs that we loose sight of the bigger picture.  Your sight keeps things in perspective.
  • Its a good service - keep it up. Advertise: parents need to know about the law in the hard times coming.
  • its very good information
  • useful, thorough
  • Good source of SEN information
  • That you are doing a great job which is very much appreciated by the people you are helping

  • there is no such thing as "too much information" when it comes to our children, their education is just as important as "regular" children,  if not more....
  • It gave excellent advice - wish I'd found it sooner
  • Easily accessible and non-threatening
  • Detailed information available on SENDIST etc
  • I like the way you send to everyone therefore being transparent to all.
  • Keep it up
  • It is very useful for parents and staff I work with to keep informed and up to date with relevant information on Special educational needs issues.
  • The best resource for parents with SEN children
  • Thank you very much for creating it and making it freely available to parents of children with SEN.
  • The site is extremely useful, it has relevant and up-to-date information that is presented in an un-complicated way.

  • You are doing a fine job!
  • thanks
  • The site is very useful it gives you lots of information on how to go about getting the help you are entitled to.
  • Very informative and up to date
  • I don't know of anyone or any organisation working so tirelessly and unselfishly. If it can be done you know who will do it. Even when it seems impossible. And it isn't just moral support, it's practical and sensible and makes you feel you are not alone.
  • A valuable resource for parents and professionals
  • It is informative and very user friendly.
  • I always tell people how brilliant Douglas is, especially other lawyers
  • you are very thorough with the cases you take on
  • Good source of information.
  • its a bit IN YOUR FACE, but packed full of very helpful information. A great resource.
  • Excellent
  • Really useful website for parents confused by all the red tape associated with SEN which makes the whole process of being a parent of a child with SEN so confusing and challenging.
  • Simply knowing there is a sympathetic ear 'out there' is hugely reassuring for "SEN Parents" who seem to spend their whole lives fighting the very system that should be be supporting them and their children. And even more galling when, like me, they are adopters often from the very same authority which now chooses to turn a deaf ear...
  • very helpful.
  • Clear information that is focused
  • I have found it really helpful. Thanks!
  • INFORMATIVE
  • I have recommended the website to other parents as a very accessible source of really substantial and useful information
  • you are humans who in this current climate are unique, you care for our precious children
  • Much better than most of them - keep it up
  • That's it's an invaluable resource for parents as well as professionals.
  • Combines all the most recent educational news in one convenient spot.
  • It is informative and user friendly!
