SEND - Further Info (6/11/08)

We have quoted below in full what has been stated in an email sent out earlier today from SEND (formally the SENDIST) regarding appeals registered before 3 November 2008 and their website:

"Directions

We indicated some time ago that we intended to disapply the new Rules to cases that were registered before 3rd November 2008. We thought that it would be wisest to issue this Direction in writing. This has been done and is now attached for your information. It means that any SEN case with a case number below 08-03263 will continue to be dealt with under the 2002 Regulations.

If there are any questions about this, please can they be directed to the SEND office in Darlington and I will answer them directly. As we are now called the "First-tier Tribunal, Health Education and Social Care Chamber, Special Educational Needs and Disability" we thought that the apporporate acronym would be SEND rather than "FTT, HESC, SEND".

Website

You may have noticed some alterations have already been made to the SEND website in readiness for 3 November.   Further changes have now been made and materials that are no longer relevant have been removed.

This now means you should be able to find the new How to Appeal of Claim Guides and Forms easily.   If you are having difficulty accessing the site or any part of it, you may need to refresh the page in your Bookmarks and/or refresh it again when you are online - the current volume of traffic on the site is putting it under some pressure!

We will be making further changes to the site to provide more guidance materials but we hope that the site does now give you appropriate access to the basic materials you need.

Regards

Simon Oliver
