SEND - Changes to Case Management (6/11/09)
We have quoted below in full what has been stated in an email sent out on 6 November 2009 from SEND (formally the SENDIST) regarding Changes to Case Management after 2 November 2009:
"Dear Colleague,
We have come to the conclusion that there are changes that can be made which we believe will make the system more efficient for all users. We hope that it will make the process simpler, less expensive and more user friendly, particularly for unrepresented parents.
We have ensured that there is still the ability for cases to be considered individually where necessary and we hope that this will mean that the cases that need judicial intervention will continue to self-identify.
The changes mean that any case registered after 2nd November will be given automatic directions (now called SEN Appeal Directions) which will apply unless there is an application on an SO4 to vary them.
I am attaching for your information:
- a briefing note
- the pro forma letter to be sent to parents (with the SO1, SO3 and SO4 attached)
- the pro forma letter to be sent to LAs (also with SO1, SO3 and SO4 attached)
Please contact the office in Darlington if you require any more information.
Yours sincerely,
Judge John Aitken
