Our 5th Anniversary

Douglas Silas Solicitors celebrated its 5th Anniversary by holding a Reception at Scope HQ on 5 May 2010 (on the 5th of the 5th!)

We were very fortunate to have three great speakers on the evening:

  • Andy Lusk, the Executive Director of Services at Scope:
  • Jane McConnell, the Chief Executive of IPSEA (the Independent Panel for Special Education Advice), and:
  • David Wolfe, a top Barrister specialising in Education law from Matrix

They all said very kind things about us and the work that we do but they also spoke about the need for parents with children with SEN to have access to appropriate advice and representation in negotiating the SEN system.

You can watch videos of their speeches or read a transcript of what they had to say by clicking the relevant links below:

Here is a slideshow of photos taken on the night (it lasts four and a half minutes). You can see the individual photos taken on the night by clicking here (please feel free to download copies of any photos if you are in them!).

5 YEARS IN 15 MINUTES!

But most importantly, we used the evening to premiere a video which we produced especially for the occasion, which we have entitled ‘5 years in 15 minutes!’ (a shorter edited version will be available in due course on our 'Welcome' page.)   It summarises what we do and why we do what we do and has some clips of previous clients saying a bit about how we helped them together with photos of some of ‘our’ children.

Here it is. We have had to split the video into two parts in order to upload it to YouTube. Our apologies as you will therefore have to click twice to watch both parts below. Click here to read a transcript of the video/s

-

Finally, there are also a few minutes of video 'soundbites' taken on the night which can watch here if you were there (they only last for two minutes).
