18.11.09 - Autism Act 2009 is now law...
Further to my update on 23 October 2009 to say that I had heard the Autism Bill had passed its final parliamentary stage, I can now provide you with a link to the Autism Act 2009 itself which was enacted on 12 November 2009.
It states its purpose as being: 'an Act to make provision about meeting the needs of adults with autistic spectrum, conditions; and for connected purposes.'
You can see the Act or download a copy from the OPSI (Office of Public Service Information) here:
Autism Act 2009 c.15 - Web Version (HTML)
Autism Act 2009 c.15 - Print Version (PDF - 64 kb)
Please note that the end of the Act states that it extends to England and Wales only and comes into force at the end of the period of 2 months beginning with the day on which it is passed.
With good wishes
Douglas
